Great win for U11 girls versus Coill Dubh this evening in the league semi final in a very tight game. Leading at half time, Coill Dubh took the lead lead early in the second half and had parents anxious on the side line. However, a long range point and goal of the season from a side line cut from Rieltin ensured Sarsfield finished stronger and prevailed on a 4-02 v 2-02 scoreline. Emer and Emily M played in goals and made vital blocks in both halves. Full backs Roisin and Leah were colassal, blocking ball and making numerous clearances. Half backs Alexandra, Nia (on her birthday) and Aoibhainn worked tirelessly tackling and clearing everything. Our inspiration captain Rieltin was a powerhouse in midfield and provided most of the scores. She was ably assisted by Emily O'S and Emma. Our forwards line of Grace, Sarah, Orlaigh, Beth, Alana and Bronagh played with skill and passion, working tremendously hard to create and take scoring opportunities while also mitigating the attacking nature of the Coill Dubh defence. Delighted for the girls that they won a hard fought and very tight match and to see the continuous improvement in their skills. One more game this season and lets hope it's an enjoyable experience for all Finally, thanks to the parents for bringing the girls to Coill Dubh for the early start and to training each week.
