Sarsfields U8's V Naas
Last Sunday morning started with a fair few hurdles and a few people not feeling 100%
With Emmet unfortunately roaming through his Netflix for the next 7 days we pulled up our sleeves and started to arrange our formation.
With 6 a side V Naas we had to rotate our 12 players to play 2 quarters each.
Q1
This saw our Sash team impose ourselves on a strong Naas team. In goal Jack was fantastic and but for 2 strong attacks we kept them at bay and Aodh and Seona in the backs attack after attach we're thwarted and this allowed Eoin and Evan to push on and get great ball to Theo. Theo got our first score with a wonderful 45 going over.
Q2
In this quarter we dominated in all areas. Sonny taking 2 scores from some sheer determined play and following the ball. Seona who was simply brilliant took another score (her first but not last). Harry, Michael and Tom showed that they have been playing attention at training by great displays of pushing the ball out to the sides and striking on both sides.
Q3
With the sun now starting to heat up the pitch we saw yet more players being added to the score sheet. Harry's hard work playing off in a great goal mouth battle that saw the sliotar over the line, Jack stuck time and time again but finally got his rewards. Grace save shot after shot today and but for Naas following in on the ball a clean sheet was on the cards for Q3.
Q4
We we're well into our stride now and the rotation of players never upset our spirits or fight. Tom and Seona once again stepped up and caused a nuisance for the Naas backs and every time a ball came free they called and called as they made space and were available. Naas got a few past us but some great saves by Aodh between the sticks and Zach and Theo in the backs we held our nerv and pushed on. Eoin fought hard for every ball and Michael was simply outstanding with his ground hurling.
All in all we came out 1 score on top and possibly deserved more.
A great mornings hurling in Naas and very proud coaches and parents left the pitch .
12 U8's took to the field
12 giants made their way home.
